John-Michael Liles News
Leafs head coach Ron Wilson said Tuesday after the Leafs game-day skate in preparation for a meeting with the Florida Panthers that defenceman John-Michael Liles was placed on the injured-reserve list. Wilson did not give a date for Liles’s return, saying only they are “shutting him down for a few days.”

Liles is eligible to come off IR after this Thursday but likely stays on it for a few more days. The offensive d-man is out indefinitely with concussion-like symptoms.

John-Michael Liles not skating again this morning. Consider him out for the second straight game. Will await confirmation.

We said yesterday that Liles would likely play if he practiced. Considering he hasn't taken the ice, it doesn't sound like he will play tonight. The offensive defender has four goals and 21 points over 34 games.

Liles now takes over as the Leafs’ primary puck-moving defenceman — inheriting the mantle held by Tomas Kaberle, though he does not invite comparisons to the former Leaf star.

Sounds like the Leafs will rely on Liles to be their main point producer. The 30-year-old defender established a career high in assists with 40 while playing for the lowly Colorado Avalanche.
