"He's seeing a neurologist today to see exactly where he's at," general manager Lou Lamoriello said. "He came back with us. He was certainly okay to travel. It is not something that is interpreted immediately as anything long term, but he's got to be 100 percent right. He got quite a jolt there and quite a cut." There are no plans to send Merrill back to Albany (AHL) while he is still ailing.
Merrill was the 38th overall pick in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft. He is a solid two-way defenseman, who is a great skater and puck distributor. Merrill had a strong pre-season and could have made the team out of camp, but was sent to Albany for seasoning. With Peter Harrold and Bryce Salvador on IR a spot has opened up for him. Merrill has two goals and five assists in 11 games with Albany.
