Compounding matters was an injury to Hawks' captain Jonathan Toews. He left in the second period with an upper-body injury and did not return.

The team's captain is listed as day-to-day and may be held out of the lineup. Through 49 games, Toews has scored 27 goals and 50 points. Stay tuned for a further update.

Tyler Seguin, taken with the No. 2 pick in the 2010 NHL Draft by the Boston Bruins, is this week's First Star, followed by Detroit Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard and Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews.

Toews contributed a pair of multi-goal efforts in the past week, including Sunday's 6-3 win against the Oilers. His second goal in the opening minute of the second period proved to be the game-winner. Toews has a three-game points streak going, compiling 4 goals and 2 assists over that span. "I want to keep pushing myself," Toews said. "I've always wanted to be a great offensive player and I definitely worked on some things this offseason to improve in that situation. You always want to be one of the best players on your team and across the league. I feel like I could be one of those guys this year. People talk about it, but it's about time to fulfill that potential."

The sky is certainly the limit for Toews, who posted career highs in assists and points last season. At this point in his career, he should continue to improve, landing in the 35-goal, 75-point range. With so many question marks in the first round, the former 3rd overall pick certainly would not have been a reach.
