Kostin was the No.31 overall pick in 2017 and is set to make his NHL debut on Wednesday. The 22-year-old forward is coming off of a championship season in the KHL, where he had 12 goals and 15 assists (27 points) across 67 combined regular season and playoff games. He's expected to make his debut on the third line with Robert Thomas and Mike Hoffman.
Kostin tallied a single goal in four games with St. Louis during his call-up but was set to be a healthy scratch on Monday night. The Blues want Kostin playing, so he heads back to the AHL, where he has eight points (3G / 5A) in 14 games.
Kostin was selected in the first round (No.31 overall) in 2017 and is one of the Blues' top prospects. The 20-year-old forward has scored three goals with five assists (eight points) in 14 AHL games this season and he is poised to make his NHL debut in Columbus on Friday.
Kostin entered the draft as NHL Central Scoutings top European skater and for good reason. Kostin has great size (6-foot-2/207 lbs.) and uses it effectively. Kostin plays a physical game, but doesn’t do it at the expense of any offence.
