Letang will miss his third straight game and sixth in the last seven when the Penguins play tomorrow. His original timetable was 7-10 days so he could return later this week.

That didn't take long. Letang was taken off of IR yesterday but is placed back on IR today because he broke his toe last night.
Letang was taken off the injured reserve list Tuesday afternoon after missing four games because of a lower-body injury. He logged more than 24 minutes in Pittsburgh's 1-0 win, its 13th in a row, but told RDS after the game that he was not 100 percent after the first period. According to TSN, the reason he wasn't at full strength was because he has sustained a broken toe. If the Penguins opt to put Letang back on injured reserve, Simon Despres would be his likely replacement in the lineup.
Looks like Letang will play, get him in your lineup. Will update if he is a late scratch.
Simon Despres has been sent down in order to clear space for Letang to come off of IR. Despres was in the lineup for the Penguins last game and Douglas Murray will not play tonight, so all signs point to Letang returning to the Pens blueline tonight.
Letang practiced on the Penguins first power-play unit this morning. He is more likely to play than Malkin is, monitor his status prior to puck-drop to see if he will be in the lineup.

This leaves the door open for Letang to play on Friday but nothing has been confirmed. Monitor his status tomorrow and Friday to see if he will play or sit.
This is positive news, that Letang is just day-to-day and his injury doesn't sound too serious. The Penguins next game is Friday vs. the Islanders, monitory Letang's status prior to Friday's game.

Coach Bylsma said that Letang will be a game-time decision, however there is a lot of optimism that he will be back in the Penguins lineup tonight. He will need to be activated off of IR if he is going to play.
In addition to Matt Niskanen being back at practice the Penguins best D-man Kris Letang was also back at practice today. Letang is eligible to come off of IR tomorrow and play in tomorrow's game vs. Ottawa. It all depends on how he felt today in practice. Monitor his status before tomorrow's game.
