Kyle Okposo News
Okposo (eye) will return to the Islanders lineup on Tuesday.

Okposo has been sidelined with a detached retina since January 19th. After missing seven weeks , Okposo will be back in tonight vs. the Rangers. This is a huge lift for the Isles—Okposo had 44 points (14G / 30A) in 46 games this season. Okposo is not expected to start on the top-line, but will likely be shuffled around throughout the game.

The Islanders revealed that Okposo is out with a detached retina.

The Islanders announced that Okposo would be out for six to eight weeks, but they did not disclose the injury. Okposo had 14 goals and 30 assists (44 points) in 46 games before getting injured. The Isles have lost two of three without K.O.

The Islanders have placed Kyle Okposo (upper-body) on injured reserve.

The Islanders announced on Monday that Okposo will miss 6-8 weeks with an upper-body injury, so placing him on IR was expected. Mikhail Grabovski is expected to get the first crack on the Islanders’ top-line with Okposo out.

Okposo (lower-body) will miss the rest of the regular season.

None of the Islanders injured players will return this season. Head coach Jack Capuano said there is "no need to rush anyone back, the standings won't change." Okposo finally had that breakout season that everyone had been waiting for. He tallied 27 goals and 42 assists (69 points) in 71 games. This certainly is something he can build off of next season, when he and John Tavares return at 100 per cent.

Okposo (lower-body) will not play on Wednesday.

Okposo will miss his fourth consecutive game when the Isles take on the Senators tonight in Ottawa. The details on Okposo's injury have been extremely vague. The Isles are 2-0-1 in the last three without KO, and with their season all but over, they are going to risk him getting more injured in meaningless game.

Okposo (lower-body) will not play on Tuesday.

Okposo will miss his third straight game on Tuesday with a lower-body injury. The Islanders are well out of the hunt for the playoffs, and frankly, they are playing OK hockey without Okposo and John Tavares. There is no need for them to get him in the lineup with the season virtually over for them. Consider him day-to-day still.

Okposo (lower-body) appears good to go for Sunday afternoon.

Okposo left practice early on Friday, but the Isles did not recall anyone from Bridgeport, so Okposo should be in the lineup. Okposo is having the breakout season people have been waiting for for years. He currently sits tied for 7th in NHL scoring with 69 points (27G / 42A) in 69 games, so make sure he is active in all formats when he is officially declared in.

Okposo will be a game-time decision tonight because of the impending birth of his child.

Monitor Okposo's status at 6:30 pm EST when the Islanders hit the ice for pre-game warmups. If Okposo takes warmups he will be in the lineup. Josh Bailey (shoulder) returns to the lineup tonight, which would help ease some of Okposo's possible loss.
