Quick is dealing with an illness, Jones likely to start.

Quick was not at the optional morning skate this morning which would usually indicate he would be the starter, however he was not at the skate because of an illness and is a game-time decision. With Quick potentially not healthy enough to back-up that would leave Jones to face the Ducks. Keep an eye on this situation in warmups.

Former Calgary Hitmen goalie Martin Jones gets the start in Calgary.

Jones gave up four goals 29 shots in a win over the Avalanche on February 26. He will likely get a rare start tonight in the second game of a back-to-back. Jonathan Quick has won six in a row, so don't expect Jones to get many starts going forward. However, tonight he is a great spot-start option vs. the Flames.

With Jonathan Quick returning to Kings practice today, it is no surprise that it looks like Jones will get the start tonight in Colorado. Jones allowed one goal on 15 shots after replacing Quick in a loss to the Penguins on Jan. 30. In his first start vs. the Avs he stopped 23 of 25 shots in a 3-2 shootout win.

The Kings have recalled Martin Jones from Manchester (AHL).

Jones was sent to Manchester to play during the Olympic break. He returns to the Kings where he will resume his position as Jonathan Quick's back-up. He has had a strong season, but behind Quick he is simply a spot-start option when Darryl Sutter gives him the nod.

Jones will make his first start since January 2, he was yanked that evening after allowing two goals on 14 shots in the first 31 minutes. With Ben Scrivens getting traded, Jones becomes the permanent backup. He was 8-3-0 with a 1.41 GAA and .950 SV% so far this season. He will need to be at his best tonight as he goes head-to-head with the red-hot Sergei Bobrovsky.

The Kings have recalled Martin Jones from Manchester (AHL).

The Kings traded Ben Scrivens to the Edmonton Oilers today so Jones has been recalled and will be Jonathan Quick's backup. Jones was excellent while Quick was on the shelf with a groin injury, but he likely won't see to much action behind Quick. The Kings have two back-to-back's left in January, so he should see at least two starts in the next eight games.

As expected, the Kings have reassigned Martin Jones to Manchester (AHL).

After Jonathan Quick showed no ill effects in returning from his Grade 2 groin strain in last night’s 3-1 win over the Canucks, the Kings have sent Jones back to Manchester. Because Ben Scrivens would have had to clear waivers to be assigned to Manchester – which had virtually no chance of happening, given his high level of play this season – Jones was always perceived as the player who would be designated for the AHL upon Quick’s return. Jones was excellent in Quick's absence going 8-3-0 with a 1.41 GAA and .950 SV% in 11 starts. He returns to the AHL where he is 9-2-2 with a 2.24 GAA and .927 SV%.

Jones stopped all 24 shots he faced to shutout the Oilers on Tuesday. Where did this guy come from? 6-0-0 with a 0.82 GAA, .972 SV% and two shutouts in his first six NHL starts. Pretty impressive stuff from the 23-year-old. He appears to be getting the start at home tonight with the Sharks in town. Jones has yet to allow a single puck by him in Los Angeles, so despite the bad matchup you have to ride the hotstreak until some one bursts his bubble.
