Samuelsson went down awkwardly in a collision with Curtis Lazar on Saturday and is expected to miss a few weeks. This is probably the best-case scenario because it looked like the injury may have been serious when it first happened. Owen Power and Ilya Lyubushkin have been skating with Rasmus Dahlin since Samuelsson got hurt.
Samuelsson gets a huge extension despite only appearing in 52 NHL games over the last two seasons. The 2018 No.32 overall pick had 10 assists in 42 games last season and projects to be a huge part of the Sabres' blueline this season, skating with Rasmussen Dahlin at 5v5.
Samuelsson has not been ruled out of Wednesday's game but is not expected to be available vs. the Jets. Mark Pysyk is expected to draw back into the lineup to replace Samuelsson.

Samuelsson also represented the USA at the World Juniors for the second straight year but has failed to record a point in those 12 international games.
