Domi, 20, had just one assists, nine shots and a minus-2 rating in the preseason, but showed enough to crack the opening night roster after being sent home last year. The 2013 12th overall pick had 102 points (32G / 70A) in 57 games with London (OHL) last year.
Domi, 19, is a dynamic offensive talent and had a lot of people believing that he would stick with the team this season. The Coyotes must feel that he will be better served with one more year of junior under his belt. He heads back to London where he has 73 goals and 107 assists (180 points) in 125 games over the last season. A huge boost for the Knights.
Domi had a good preseason and looked like he may make the team. However he has been sent back to the OHL and will not have any fantasy relevance this season.
Coyotes head coach Dave Tippett said if Domi makes the roster it’s going to be because he and General Manager Don Maloney believe Domi can contribute significantly. This means if he makes the team he will not be stuffed on the 4th line playing small minutes, he will likely skate amongst the top-6. Monitor Domi's status because if he makes the team he could be a great late-round pick or waiver wire addition.
It's unlikely that the small forward will crack the Coyotes roster out of camp but he's a fiery goal scorer who could impress in his short trial.
