Michael Del Zotto News
Michael Del Zotto could not begin working out this offseason until mid- to late-June after breaking a finger late in April with Connecticut (AHL). No longer a teenager, Del Zotto, 21, appears much bigger in his upper body.

Del Zotto needed to improve his positioning and defensive play more than anything. If his confidence levels can return to that of his rookie season, he should get back to the 10-goal, 40-point range.

And that is maturation, it takes time. I am really anxious to see how he goes about his business in camp here.

Del Zotto remains one of the front-runners for a spot on the Rangers' blue line. Following a promising rookie campaign in which the youngster scored 9 goals and 38 points, Del Zotto defined sophomore slump with 2 goals and 11 points in 47 games --ultimately spending the second half of the season in the AHL. The team is hoping a fresh start will get the former 20th overall pick going once more.
