There is no word why Hutchinson is being called up. Jack Campbell is expected to start Wednesday but if something happened to him, Hutchinson could back-up Joseph Woll. Hutchinson will make his first start with the Avalanche after Pavel Francouz started the last seven straight games. Head coach Jared Bednar will use tonight's easy matchup to get Francouz a breather but he should start the remaining three games of the week. Hutchinson struggled with the Maple Leafs, going 4-9-1 with a 3.66 GAA and .886 SV%, but stopped 29 of 30 shots in a 4-1 win in his only start vs. the Red Wings (Dec.21).
Hutchinson provides the Avalanche with some goaltending depth after Philipp Grubauer went down with a lower-body injury. Hutchinson was waived by the Maple Leafs earlier this month after the team acquired Jack Campbell. Hutchinson owns an ugly 4-9-1 record on the season to go along with an .886 SV% and 3.66 GAA.
