Neuvirth surrendered three goals on 22 shots after replacing Steve Mason in the Flyers 7-1 blowout loss to the Panthers on Saturday. With Mason out due to a personal matter, Neuvirth will make his first start of the season. It will come against the same Panthers team who destroyed them over the weekend.
Neuvirth was scratched on Saturday, but is back at practice this morning and is expected to be available to backup Jaroslav Halak in Game 1 on Wednesday. Kevin Poulin was returned to the AHL on Sunday, which is another sign that Neuvirth will be good-to-go.
With Neuvirth day-to-day, the Islanders have recalled Kevin Poulin from Bridgeport (AHL) and he could get the nod in the season finale. There is no word if Neuvirth will be good to go for the start of the playoffs.
