Neuvirth surrendered three goals on 22 shots after replacing Steve Mason in the Flyers 7-1 blowout loss to the Panthers on Saturday. With Mason out due to a personal matter, Neuvirth will make his first start of the season. It will come against the same Panthers team who destroyed them over the weekend.

Neuvirth was scratched on Saturday, but is back at practice this morning and is expected to be available to backup Jaroslav Halak in Game 1 on Wednesday. Kevin Poulin was returned to the AHL on Sunday, which is another sign that Neuvirth will be good-to-go.

With Neuvirth day-to-day, the Islanders have recalled Kevin Poulin from Bridgeport (AHL) and he could get the nod in the season finale. There is no word if Neuvirth will be good to go for the start of the playoffs.

With the Sabres tanking for Connor McDavid, it seems like Neuvirth was performing too well, so they have sent him to the Islanders to become New York’s backup. Neuvirth will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

He has been great in February and he will look to keep things rolling this afternoon vs. the Panthers. Neuvirth is 0-2-0 with a 2.58 GAA and .929 SV% against Florida this season.

Neuvirth was excellent on Tuesday, stopping 45 of 47 shots in the Sabres 4-2 win over the Blue Jackets. In February, he has posted a fantastic 1.94 GAA and .947 SV%, but that has only led to a 2-3-2 record. Tonight he will face a Canucks team, who come in having won six of their last eight.
