Mika Zibanejad News
The Senators signed Mika Zibanejad to a two-year contract worth $5.3M.

Zibanejad, 22, had the best season of his career in 2014-15. The former 6th overall pick tallied his first ever 20-goal season to go along with 26 assists (46 points) in 80 games for the Senators. It was another step in the right direction for Zibanejad, who will be in the Sens’ top-6 for at least the next two seasons.

Zibanejad has been moved to the Senators second line with Kyle Turris and Clarke MacArthur.

Zibanejad has seen his ice-time increase in all three games since being recalled. He has one goal and one assist while averaging 14:05 TOI. The move to the second line will help the former sixth overall pick stay in the NHL.

The Ottawa Senators have recalled Mika Zibanejad from Binghamton (AHL).

The sixth overall pick in 2011 was a surprise cut at the end of the preseason. Since being sent down Zibanejad scored two goals and added five assists in seven games with the Senators AHL affiliate. He will be in the lineup on Wednesday vs. Detroit.

Mika Zibanejad has been assigned to Binghamton (AHL).

This is surprising, Zibanejad had a great preseason and looked like a lock to make the Sens roster. He had seven goals and 13 assists (20 points) in 42 games for Ottawa last season. The move was likely made because Zibanejad is waiver exempt and the Senators did not want to expose Stephane Da Costa to waivers. Expect to see Zibanejad back with Ottawa soon.
