Mike Smith in 2012 - 38-18-10 / 2.21 GAA / .930 SV%. Smith in 2013 - 13-12-4 / 2.54 GAA / .912 SV%. Yeah Smith had a tough year compared to 2012. But lets be realistic last season was the first time he posted a GAA under 2.60 since his rookie year in 2006. I'm not saying he is not a good goalie but some regression from 2012 was definitely to be expected. However he does have a good matchup tonight vs. the Avs and is one of the better options in a quiet night in the NHL.
Smith had a tough night in one of the Coyotes biggest games of the season, allowing three power-play goals in a 4-0 loss to the Red WIngs on Monday. It is worth noting that Smith is playing through a lower-body injury. He will face a Sharks team that he shutout the only time he faced them this season.
Smith returned to the lineup Saturday and made 38 saves, plus two more in the shootout, as the Coyotes defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 to remain alive for one of the final playoff spots in the Western Conference. This is a huge game for both teams, so Smith will need to be at his best tonight.

And a last minute start for Smith who is able to play though his injury.
Smith's injury came at an unfortunate time for fantasy owners who have largely been without the goalie's services for the last month. The good news is, however, that Smith did skate briefly today and will accompany the team on their upcoming road trip.
Labarbera starts tonight and Johnson recalled on emergency basis. Will update as we know more but this is a big blow to fantasy owners if he's out for an extended period.
Smith allowed just one goal on 30 shots in a 3-1 win over the Oilers on Wednesday. He has a great matchup tonight vs. the Flames, start him with confidence.
Smith allowed just one goal on 41 shots in a 2-0 loss to the Canucks on Monday. He has posted a 0.51 GAA and .985 SV% in two starts since returning from his upper-body injury. He faces a skilled Oilers team that can score at any time.
Smith posted a 24-save shutout vs. the Avalanche on Saturday. It was his first game game since suffering an upper-body injury that forced him to miss six games. He has a tough matchup tonight against the Canucks who are 8-2-0 in their last 10.
Smith has missed the Coyotes last six games with an upper-body injury. Phoenix did pretty well without their #1 goalie, going 3-1-2 in those six games. Smith will likely start the vast majority of the Coyotes remaining 10 games after tonight. The matchup with the Avs is a good one.

Smith will miss his third straight game tonight with an upper-body injury. It doesn't sound like Smith will play on Saturday in San Jose. Monitor his status on Saturday, if he is unavailable the Coyotes next game is on Tuesday, at home vs. Los Angeles.
The Coyotes play Wednesday and Thursday so earliest Smith could be back is Saturday against San Jose.
The Coyotes don't play until Monday, so Smith has some time to heal. We'll have to wait and see if he will start Monday vs. Detroit.

Smith had some tests done today because he was dealing with a headache last night. It does not sound like he suffered a serious injury.
