Nick Jensen News
The Capitals have acquired Nick Jensen and a 2019 fifth-round pick from the Red Wings for Madison Bowey and a 2020 second-round pick.

Jensen was a fifth-round pick back in 2009 and was a late-bloomer. Jensen didn’t make his NHL debut until 2017, after 222 career AHL games, and never looked back. Jensen is a reliable two-way defenseman that can be leaned on to kill penalties. He will likely line-up next to Brooks Orpik/Christian Djoos in the third pairing.

The Red Wings have signed Nick Jensen to a two-year extension worth $1.625M ($812.5K AAV).

Jensen, 26, has impressed the Red Wings since being called up in mid-December. The American-born defenseman has three goals and five assists (eight points) in 27 games with the Red Wings after he had six points (1G / 5A) in 27 games with the Griffins. He is a really strong skater and should be part as the Red Wings’ top-6 next season.

The Red Wings have recalled Nick Jensen from Grand Rapids (AHL).

Jensen, 26, has been recalled to serve as an extra defenseman during the Red Wings’ three- game road trip. The 2009 fifth round pick has one goal and five assists (six points) in 27 games with the Griffins. Don’t expect him to make his NHL debut unless one of the Red Wings’ regular defensemen gets injured.
