Nicolas Aube-Kubel News
Nicolas Aube-Kubel is expected to be a healthy scratch Saturday

Aube-Kubel looks like he will be the odd man out for the Maple Leafs Saturday as they take on the Winnipeg Jets. After signing from the Colorado Avalanche in the offseason, NAK has struggled in his first five games in Toronto, only collecting one shot while averaging 9:00 TOI on the Leafs' fourth line.

The Avalanche have claimed Nicolas Aube-Kubel off of waivers from the Flyers.

Aube-Kubel was a second-round pick of the Flyers in 2014 and was a regular member of their team in 2020-21. The 25-year-old had 12 points (3G / 9A) in 50 games last year but was buried on the depth this year. He now heads to Colorado, where he'll likely battle with Kiefer Sherwood for a spot in the bottom-6.

The Flyers have re-signed Nicolas Aube-Kubel to a one-year contract.

Aube-Kubel had 16 goals and 14 assists (30 points) in 54 AHL games and appeared in the first nine NHL games of his career with Philadelphia in 2019. The 23-year-old doesn’t have great size but can play a solid two-way game with some offensive flair for the bottom-6. He will likely start 2020 in the AHL but could be one of the Flyers first call-ups.
