Backstrom strained his right knee when Eric Nystrom barreled into him in the first period of Tuesday's game, causing Backstrom's right leg to strike the goal post. Yeo said Josh Harding will start Thursday's game against Winnipeg at Xcel Energy Center, but Backstrom might be healthy enough to dress as the backup.
Backstrom was crashed into and appeared to have injured his leg on the post. He is questionable to return to the game.
Backstrom has bee a tough luck loser in each of his first two starts this season. He has given up a total of six goals for a 2.77 GAA and .875 SV%. Backstrom was 2-1-0 with a 1.59 GAA and .935 SV% vs. the Predators in 2012-13.
Backstrom was not very busy in the Wild season opener. The Kings only fired 18 shots his way, but were able to score twice. Backstrom will start against a Ducks team who were beat-up 6-1, by the Avs in their first game.
Backstrom tied for the NHL lead in wins last season with 24. He posted a 2.48 GAA and .909 SV% as the Wild snuck into the playoffs. They were somewhat disappointing after signing Ryan Suter and Zach Parise in the offseason. However in 2013-14 they look poised for a strong season which is good news for Backstrom owners.

Backstrom allowed three goals on five shots in a crucial loss to the Oilers last night. He will start in a must-win game tonight vs. Colorado. He should make for a good start vs. a bad Avs team.
A win for the WIld will clinch a playoff spot. The Oilers are a struggling young team so the WIld should be able to punch their ticket to the playoffs. In a quiet night in the NHL Backstrom should be one of the better options.
