Pavel Buchnevich News
The Rangers have signed Pavel Buchnevich to a two-year, $6.5M contract extension ($3.25M AAV).

Buchnevich set new career-highs in goals (21) and points-per-game (0.59) in 2019 while appearing in 64 games with the Rangers. Buchnevich has been a breakout candidate for the last two seasons, but 2020 looks like his best chance yet. As long as Buchnevich can remain in the Rangers’ to-6, the additions of Artemi Panarin and Kaapo Kakko should give Buchneviche plenty of talent to work with.

Buchnevich (undisclosed) is on the ice for warmups; expected to play Wednesday vs. the Senators.

Buchnevich was originally listed as questionable for tonight’s game after missing Monday’s game wth an undisclosed ailment. However, he is on the ice for warmups and will look to stay hot tonight vs. the Senators—he is on six-game point streak, scoring four goals with four assists over that stretch.

Buchnevich will miss 4-6 weeks with a broken thumb.

Buchnevich, who has served as a healthy scratch a few times, started playing well right before getting hurt. Buchnevich picked up two goals and two assists in his last three games, but will miss at least one month after suffering a broken thumb on Saturday. This leaves the Rangers without two of their best right-wingers, Buchnevich and Mats Zuccarello.
