The Maple Leafs waived Dryden Hunt on Sunday to clear the way for Holmberg, who has 11 points (4G / 7A) in 28 games with the Maple Leafs this season. In 12 AHL games, the 23-year-old has six points (2G / 4A).
Holmberg will be recalled for a second time this season after getting a small cup of coffee with the Maple Leafs earlier in the season, playing one game where he collected two shots over 10:01 TOI. The 23-year-old has a goal and four assists with Toronto (AHL) prior to his call up to the Leafs.
Holmberg made his NHL debut on Nov 2nd vs Philadelphia playing only 10:01 TOI in his only action with the Maple Leafs so far this season. He was sent down to the Toronto Marlies (AHL) Tuesday as Jordie Benn was activated from the injured reserve.
