The Hurricanes recalled Pyotr Kochetkov from Charlotte (AHL) on an emergency basis.

Antti Raanta suffered an undisclosed injury in Tuesday's game in Montreal, so Kochetkov comes up to serve as the Hurricanes' No.2 netminder behind Frederik Andersen. WIth a back-to-back on Saturday/Sunday, there's a good chance that Kochetkov seems some action.

The Hurricanes have reassigned Pyotr Kocetkov to Chicago (AHL).

The Hurricanes were carrying three goalies since Frederik Andersen returned but have demoted Kochetkov to the AHL and will carry Andersen and Antti Raanta moving forward. Kochetkov started off great, going 10-1-4 with a .928 SV% and three shutouts in his first 15 games. However, he was 0-3-1 with a .861 SV% in his last four games. Before getting called up, Kochetkov was 2-2-1 with a .911 SV% in the AHL.

Kochetkov allowed four goals on 24 shots (.833 SV%) for only the second two-game losing streak of his career as he was downed by Nashville last start. The 23-year-old rookie netminder has put himself into Calder Trophy talks due to his 10-3-4 record, 2.20 GAA and .919 SV%. He will try to get back in the win column as he draws the tough task of the New Jersey Devils, who are third in the NHL in shots per game (34.9) and eighth in goals per game (3.4).

Kochetkov allowed four goals on 30 shots (.867 SV%) to snap a five-game winning streak as he was defeated by the New York Rangers his last time out. The rookie netminder has been phenomenal this season, with his 10-2-4 record, .924 SV% and 2.08 GAA. He draws a good matchup with the Nashville Predators, who rank 27th in the NHL in goals per game (2.72) and 28th in powerplay percentage (17.9).

Kochetkov has run with the Hurricanes' starting job, with his 10-1-4 record, 1.94 GAA and .928 SV%. He takes on the Chicago Blackhawks, who snapped an eight-game losing skid with a 5-2 victory over Columbus in their last game.
