The 28-year-old has struggled for the better part of 2016-17, but he stopped 40 of 42 shots in an OT win in his first start vs. the Blue Jackets.

Varlamov allowed two goals on 42 shots in Colorado’s overtime win in Columbus on Monday. Varlamov has won three of his last five starts while posting a 1.79 GAA and .944 SV%. Tonight Varlamov will take on the Oilers on home-ice, where he has gone 3-3-0 with a 2.51 GAA and .917 SV%.

Varlamov allowed three goals on 22 shots in Colorado’s loss in Dallas on Thursday. Calvin Pickard started on Saturday, but they’ll go back to Varlamov tonight in Columbus. Varlamov has gone 1-5-0 with a 3.54 GAA and .884 SV% in six starts on the road this season.

Varlamov gave up one goal on 33 shots in Colorado’s win over the Kings on Tuesday. After a rough stretch, Varlamov has improved over his last three starts. The Russian netminder has won two of his last three starts while allowing just four goals on 96 shots (.958 SV%). Tonight he faces a Stars team that has lost five of their last seven games.

Varlamov has gone 2-3-0 with a 2.81 GAA and .905 SV% on home ice.

Varlamov allowed five goals on 25 shots in Colorado’s loss in St. Louis on Sunday. Calvin Pickard started on Tuesday, but Varly will go tonight vs. the Jets. The veteran netminder has struggled recently, losing his last five starts while posting a 4.32 GAA and .858 SV%. Varlamov is a risky option on Friday, with the Jets in town—they’re tied for eighth in the NHL in scoring (3.00 G/PG).

Varlamov surrendered five goals on 36 shots in Colorado’s loss to the Predators on Tuesday. Varlamov has lost his last three starts while posting a 3.71 GAA and .884 SV% and things don’t get any easier tonight in Chicago. The Blackhawks are 6-3-1 and rank third in the NHL in scoring with 3.50 goals per game. There are better options out there tonight.
