His three straight losses prior to Tuesday proved to us why he has a career .914 SV% and that he won't maintain a SV% above .930 all season. However he is on a good team, and .914 is not so bad, he remains a solid number-1 fantasy option.

Just over 24 hours after being in court last Thursday, Varlamov recorded his third straight win on Friday. He stopped 27 of 29 shots to preserve the victory over the Stars. Varlamov has been great but don't forget the serious charges that he is facing. However as long as he is starting games, you can continue to roll with him.
It was reported earlier in the week that J.S Giguere was going to start this evening. After Varlamov's run-in with the law this week, it appeared that Giguere would become the starter for the foreseeable future. However, Varlamov is back with the team and will end up getting the start tonight. He will face a solid Dallas Stars team tonight.
Varlamov will serve as J.S Giguere's back-up tomorrow.
Until more information is released, assume Varlamov will be unable to start for the Avs.
