CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks agreed to a four-year contract with defenseman Steve Montador on Thursday, keeping him off the free-agent market.
The Sabres, who had no plans to re-sign pending unrestricted free agent Steve Montador, have traded the defenseman's rights to Chicago for a conditional seventh-round draft pick in the 2012 or 2013 entry drafts.
If Leopold plays, and I think he likely will, Montador has a good chance to be a healthy scratch.
