Thompson (upper-body) will play Saturday vs. the Flames.

Thompson had missed the Sabres' skate Thursday due to an upper-body which led to some speculation that there may be an injury to worry about, but the all-star will play Saturday vs. the Flames. It is a sigh of relief for the Sabres, as Thompson leads them with 34 goals, 34 assists, 200 SOG, 24 PIMs and a +15 plus/minus through 50 games this season.

Thompson is day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

Thompson was not on the ice for Monday's practice and is considered day-to-day. This leaves Thompson's status for Wednesday's game vs. Carolina in question. It's unclear when Thompson suffered the injury, as he finished Saturday's game in Minnesota with 20:58 TOI.

Thompson missed most of the 2020 season with a shoulder issue, which required surgery in mid-January. He had six goals and six assists (12 points) in 16 games with Rochester (AHL) and only appeared in one game with the Sabres. Since being selected No.26 overall in 2016, Thompson has just 10 goals and 11 assists (21 points) in 107 career NHL games.

Thompson is expected to miss 3-to-5 weeks with an upper-body injury.

Thompson was hurt in his season debut on Sunday. He was called-up to replace Kyle Okposo (concussion) but suffered an injury of his own after playing just 6:59 TOI. He was hit awkwardly by Olli Maatta and suffered what appeared to be a shoulder injury. The Sabres have announced that he will miss at least three weeks.

The Sabres have recalled Tage Thompson from Rochester (AHL).

Thompson is tied for the team lead with 12 points (6G / 6A) in 16 games with Rochester this season. Kyle Okposo left past night's game and is questionable to play on Sunday, so look for Thompson to make his season debut in Chicago. The 2016 first-round pick has 21 points (10G / 11A) in 106 career NHL games.
