Zajac was still recovering from Aug. 18 surgery to repair a tear in his Achilles when the Devils played in Winnipeg on Dec. 3 and now, after to returning to the lineup on Dec. 16, has been shut down for two more weeks because of soreness in his Achilles, so he’ll miss Saturday’s game here.

Zajac continues to suffer from a nagging injury, making him less valuable to fantasy hockey owners.

Devils center Travis Zajac was back at practice today after taking a maintenance day off on Thursday.

Zajac won't miss any more playing time but expect him to take some maintenance days over the course of the season. The Winnipeg, Manitoba native has a goal and an assist over six games.

Center Travis Zajac skated today in New Jersey after taking Tuesday off and it remains possible that he’ll make his season debut on Friday night. Zajac is recovering from a torn left Achilles tendon and has been practicing with the team for the last week. (The rest of the team did not practice today).

No word on where Zajac will play in the lineup. The Winnipeg native was formerly glued to Zach Parise but could be facing some stiff competition from surging rookie Adam Henrique.

Although center Travis Zajac did not skate this morning for what Pete DeBoer called “just a maintenance day”, the Devils coach said it is possible that Zajac will make his season debut Friday against Dallas.

Great sign for Zajac moving forward as he continues to progress without setbacks. When he returns, he should knock Adam Henrique down a line or two.

Zajac skating indicates he has not had any setbacks from his wounded Achilles. He remains on a before-Christmas timetable.

Zajac continues to skate with the team and figures to get back into full practices within the next couple of weeks. If he's on your waiver wire, he might be a nice player to store away for the second-half push.

Zajac could be back in the Devils' lineup by Christmas.

Great news for the Devils as they hope to get their number one center back into the lineup. Last season the Winnipeg native scored only 14 goals and 44 points in a down season. He should return to a prorated 60 points.
