Zach Bogosian News
The Jets have placed Zach Bogosian (lower-body) on injured reserve.

Bogosian missed his third straight contest on Thursday after being injured on November 15. His placement on IR is retroactive to the 15th, which means he is eligible to return whenever he is healthy. No timetable has been established, but he is considered to be closer to week-to-week than day-to-day.

Winnipeg Jets defenceman Zach Bogosian is "week-to-week" with a groin strain, head coach Claude Noel said Sunday.

"He has a moderate groin strain and so he's more week-to-week right now," Noel told reporters Sunday morning. "That's pretty much where he's at. How many weeks? We'll just deal with week-to-week. We have to see how it progresses and stuff like that." Bogosian was hurt during the second period of Winnipeg's 3-2 shootout win over Philadelphia Friday evening. With Bogosian out, defenceman Zach Redmond made his first regular-season NHL appearance since he suffered a horrifying cut to his femoral artery during practice on Feb. 21. But while Redmond drew into the lineup, it was Keaton Ellerby who took Bogosian's customary position with Toby Enstrom against the Wild.

Bogosian (lower-body) will not play on Sunday.

Bogosian will return to Winnipeg where he will be reevaluated. Head coach Claude Noel hinted that his injury could be more serious than a day-to-day issue. There will be a more detailed injury report after he is evaluated on Sunday. This is a tough break for Bogosian, who had stared playing his best hockey of the season.

Bogosian (lower-body) left Friday's contest and did not return, he is also not on the ice this morning.

Bogosian played just 12:32 before departing for the dressing room for the night. The Jets have not announced what Bogosian is dealing with, but recalled Julian Melchiori in case Bogosian can not play tomorrow. Consider him day-to-day and questionable for Sunday.

#nhljets Zach Bogosian will play tonight vs. #Pens

Bogosian will make his season debut tonight vs. Pittsburgh. He will play on the Jets 2nd D-pairing with Ron Hainsey. Bogosian had 30 points in 65 last year so he could be a good waiver wire pickup for the rest of this season.

#NHLJets D Zach Bogosian says he is ready to play Friday. We will see what Claude Noel says shortly.

This is great news for the Jets, Bogosian had 5 G, 25 A, -3 and 117 hits in 65 games last season. The young blueliner will be a welcomed return to a Jets blueline that already has Tobias Enstrom (2G, 11A, -3, 6PPP) and Dustin Byfuglien (3G, 4A, +1, 4PPP). Bogosian will likely take a few games to get back into game shape but he would be a good pickup because of his offensive upside.
