The 27-year-old is seven wins from the Avalanche's single-season win record, with his impressive 34-15-5 record, 2.54 GAA and .919 SV%. He takes on the Minnesota Wild for a battle for the division lead, who have won four of their last five games but are 22nd in the NHL in goals per game (2.93).

The Avalanche have signed Jason Polin to a one-year entry-level contract.

Polin led the entire NCAA with 30 goals through 39 games this season with Western Michigan University (NCAA) and signed a one-year entry-level contract with the Colorado Avalanche Wednesday. The 23-year-old finished his final collegiate season with 30 goals, 47 points, 13 PIMs and a +26 plus/minus through 39 games this season.

MacDonald left the Sharks' previous game after just 1:55 TOI due to an upper-body injury and will be a game-time decision to play Saturday vs. Calgary. The 30-year-old has a goal, four assists, 54 SOG, 17 PIMs and a -11 plus/minus through 48 games between San Jose and Colorado.

Makar has missed the Avalanches' previous two games due to a lower-body injury but will draw back into the lineup Friday as Colorado takes on Arizona. The 24-year-old is having a phenomenal season, with 16 goals, 45 assists, 163 SOG, 28 PIMs and a +15 plus/minus through 55 games prior to his injury.
