van Riemsdyk was a question mark for Thursady’s game vs. Carolina, but played and then missed Friday’s practice and won’t face his former team tonight. Despite being held out tonight, head coach Mike Babcock expects JVR back in on Monday.
van Riemsdyk fell awkwardly during Monday’s win over the Kings, missed Wednesday’s practice, but was on the ice for the morning skate and is officially listed as a game-time decision for tonight’s meeting with Carolina. van Riemsdyk will be replaced by Josh Leivo if he is unable to play.
It looks like van Riemsdyk avoided serious injury when he went down awkwardly on Monday, but was able to finish the game. He is likely a bit sore, which is why he didn’t practice today, but head coach Mike Babcock said that JVR should play tomorrow vs. Carolina.
Severson was a restricted free agent coming off of his entry-level contract and was able to come to terms with the Devils a few days before the start of training camp. Severson owns a big point shot and some sleeper value entering the 2017-18 season, after posting 31 points (3G / 28A) in 80 games a season ago.
Labanc has had a strong rookie season, tallying 19 points (6G / 13A) in 19 games with the Barracuda and the same amount of points (7G / 12A) in 49 games with the Sharks. He will likely draw into the lineup for Logan Couture, who was hurt on Saturday.
Kuraly, 24, has no points in five games with the Bruins this season while collecting 13 goals and 11 assists (24 points) in 50 games with Providence. He was recalled on Sunday because Patrice Bergeron, Drew Stafford and Tim Schaller were all missing from yesterday’s practice.
Labanc was a healthy scratch on Monday and will go back to the Barracuda with Joonas Donskoi healthy. Labanc has five goals and 10 assists (15 points) in 10 AHL games this season.
Severson was scratched Sunday vs. Columbus, but will draw into the lineup against them tonight. Severson has had a nice offensive season, scoring three goals with 24 assists (27 points) in 64 games.
Labanc was sent down for a quick stint with the Barracuda and returns to the Sharks after missing the last two games. The rookie winger has collected seven goals and seven assists (14 points) in 40 games and should draw back into the lineup on Saturday.
