The Red Wings are +149 home underdogs against a Hurricanes team that has lost four of their last five (1-4-0), scoring more than three goals only once.

Lagesson (illness) is on the ice for warmups and is expected to play on Long Island on Monday.

Lagesson did not play the last two games for the Maple Leafs due to an illness but will return to the lineup on Monday against the New York Islanders. Lagesson is averaging 15:00 time-on-ice, has one point (0G / 1A), and 25 hits in 14 games, skating primarily alongside Simon Benoit, though he'll start tonight's game on a pair with Jake McCabe.

Dylan Larkin (upper body) is out at least a week after being placed on the Injured Reserve Monday.

Larkin exited Saturday's contest against the Ottawa Senators, playing only 5:26 time-on-ice, after a scary incident that left him motionless on the ice for several moments. Larkin was able to skate off the ice with the help of his teammates but will be out of the lineup for a minimum of one week as he has been placed on the injured reserve. Zach Aston-Reese and Austin Czarnik have both been recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL. Larkin's absence creates a void at the center-ice position for the Red Wings, who are already without J.T. Compher (soreness).

Talbot will start in Montreal on Thursday.

Talbot has been used between the pipes much more sparingly lately but will return to the crease for the fourth time in the last seven games when the Kings visit the Montreal Canadiens.
