Jack Campbell will start his tenure as the Oilers' starting goalie Wednesday when he takes on division rivals Vancouver. The 30-year-old joins his third team in seven seasons after finishing 11th in Wins (31) in 2021-22 with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He also enjoyed a 2.64 GAA alongside his .914 SV%. He will look to get Edmonton back in the win column as they hope to return to the Western Conference Finals for the second straight season.
Edvinsson was the No.6 overall pick in 2021 and enjoyed a solid preseason, recording one assist with 10 shots on goal in five games. Edvinsson will start the season in the AHL but will likely be the first defenseman to be called up when the Red Wings need a blueliner.
Talbot is expected to miss at least the first month of the season. The Senators claimed Magnus Hellberg off waivers from the Kraken to help provide depth behind Anton Forsberg while Talbot is out.
McLaughlin spent four seasons with the Rockford IceHogs, finishing second on the team with 42 points (13G / 29A) in 55 games last season. He'll likely report to Springfield (AHL) for 2022-23.
Rafferty played the entire 2021-22 season in the AHL, scoring four goals with 20 assists (24 points) in 65 games with San Diego. He's only played in three career NHL games and will almost certainly start 2022-23 in the AHL.
Campbell played a career-high 49 games (47 starts), going 31-9-6 with a 2.64 GAA and .914 SV% with the Maple Leafs. With Mike Smith likely headed to LTIR, Campbell should serve as the Oilers No.1 netminder and Stuart Skinner will be his backup.
