Mitchell had an assist in 8:23 TOI in the season opener but will come out of the lineup for Game 2. Erik Gustafsson will draw into the lineup to replace him.

Gustafsson sat out of the season opener after signing a one-year ticket with the Blackhawks this week. Tonight he'll replace Ian Mitchell, who saw some PP2 time in the opener. Expect Gustafsson to play a minimal role at 5v5 but should see some PP usage.

Chiasson turned his PTO into a one-year deal, picking up one assist in three preseason games. Chiasson was skating on the top line with Elias Pettersson in Tuesday's practice, so he'll play a big role while Brock Boeser is out.

With both Wyatt Kalynuk and Caleb Jones going down with injuries late in training camp, Gustafsson has been signed to play on the third pair and second power-play unit early the season. After a breakout 60-point (17G / 43A) season in 2019, Gustafsson has struggled to find a stable home. In 95 games since, Gustafsson has tallied just nine goals and 34 assists (41 points) with the Blackhawks, Flames, Flyers and Canadiens.

Stevens was a fifth-round pick in 2016 and has spent the last three years in the AHL. The 25-year-old forward had six goals and 12 assists (18 points) in 27 games with Utica last year. Look for Stevens to start the 2021-22 season in the AHL once again.

Rasmussen played almost the entire 2020-21 NHL season in the NHL, scoring three goals with nine assists (12 points) in 40 games. The former No.9 overall pick (2017) made serious strides this season and will look to be an important part of the Red Wings' middle-6 in 2021-22.

After sitting as a healthy scratch for the first four games of the series, Gustafsson is expected to replace Brett Kulak in the lineup for Game 5. Gustafsson has collected two assists while plating 13:23 ATOI in five games with the Canadiens.
