Smith gets the start for the Coyotes.

Smith allowed four goals on 29 shots in a loss to the Maple Leafs on Monday. After winning back-to-back starts for the first time since November 9 & 12, Smith got diced up by Phil Kessel and the Leafs. Smith has a great matchup to earn his 18th win of the season tonight vs. Calgary. He stopped 22 of 24 shots in a 4-2 win over the Flames on October 22.

Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello said there would be no update today on center Adam Henrique, who was struck in the hand with the puck late in the second period of Tuesday’s 7-1 win over the St. Louis Blues.

“We’ve got the day off and we’ll know tomorrow morning,” Lamoriello said. Henrique recorded a goal in 10:50 before exiting the game and not returning. He has been heating up recently, he has seven goals and four assists (11 points) in his last 13 games.

Kane (hand) is on the ice for Jets' practice.

Kane has missed the last four games with a hand injury, but his presence at practice is a good sign that he should be ready to go on Tuesday in Anaheim, barring a setback. Since returning from his lower-body injury on December 16, Kane has recorded seven goals and four assists (11 points) in 12 games. Monitor his status leading up to Tuesday.

Smith starts for the Coyotes.

Smith stopped all 29 shots to record his first shutout of the season on Thursday vs. the Canucks. This was a much needed win for the Canadian Olympian who had lost his nine previous outings. Tonight he faces the Devils and their 27th ranked offence at home. He is 10-6-3 with a 2.77 GAA and .906 SV% at Jobing.com Arena this season.

The Jets have placed Evander Kane (hand) on injured reserve retroactive to January 7.

Kane will miss his third straight game tonight, but will be eligible to come off of IR as soon as he is healthy. It doesn't sound like Kane is making too much progress, but continue to monitor his status heading into Saturday's game. His placement on IR allowed the Jets to recall Carl Klingberg.

Smith gets the call in goal for the Coyotes.

Smith gave up five goals on 38 in a 5-1 loss to the Jets last night. Smith's struggles continue, he has lost seven consecutive starts and has just one win in his last 10 starts while posting a 2.87 GAA and .903 SV%. Tonight he faces one of the NHL's best teams, so I would advise leaving him on your bench.

Smith will start for the Coyotes.

Smith allowed one goal on seven shots after replacing Thomas Greiss on Saturday. It has been tough sledding for Smith lately, he has not recorded a win since December 21, a span of six straight losses. The Olympian is 15-11-8 with a 2.89 GAA and .910 SV% this season. He draws a good matchup against a struggling Jets team who are playing their first game under new head coach Paul Maurice.

Kane (hand) is doubtful for Saturday's game.

Kane missed practice for the second straight day and is unlikely to play tomorrow vs. the Blue Jackets. This is a tough break for Kane owners who have enjoyed seven goals and four assists (11 points) in his last 12 games since returning from a lower-body injury. If he is unable to play, Eric O'Dell is expected to take his spot on the Jets' second line. Monitor his status following the morning skate.
