Nurse was on the receiving end of an illegal check to the head by Toronto's Ryan Reaves on Saturday. Reaves was given a five-minute major penalty and has been suspended for five games. The 29-year-old Nurse, who has nine points (2G / 7A) in 18 games this season, could return to the lineup on Saturday against the New York Rangers.

Hyman is battling an undisclosed ailment and will miss his first game of the season on Thursday. The 32-year-old Hyman, coming off a career-best 54 goal campaign, has struggled in the 2024-25 campaign, with only eight points (3G / 5A) in eight games. New acquired Kasperi Kapanen, claimed from waivers yesterday, will draw into the lineup to make his Oilers debut.

Kapanen struggled to establish himself with the Blues, in and out of the lineup this season, being limited to only one point (1G / 0A) in 10 games. As a result, he was placed on waivers by the Blues and ultimately claimed by the Oilers. He has 23 points (7G / 16A) in 83 total games with the Blues over the previous two seasons.

Kasperi Kapanen
Skinner will start vs. Minnesota on Thursday.

The Oilers will roll with Skinner between the pipes for consecutive games when they face off on Thursday against the Minnesota Wild. Skinner has battled adversity this season, posting a 3.18 GAA and .881 SV% in 13 games (6-5-2), but was excellent in his previous outing, saving 27 of 29 shots (.931 SV%) in a 5-2 win over the Ottawa Senators. Edmonton enters the action on Thursday as -150 home favorites against a Minnesota team with points in five of their last six (4-1-1).

Lazar underwent knee surgery at the end of October and remains sidelined indefinitely. The 29-year-old Lazar, in his second season with the Devils, was a lineup regular before the injury, registering two points (1G / 1A) and a monstrous 36 hits in 12 games.

Brown has been an NHL regular the past five seasons but will make his season debut with the Oilers on Monday after spending the beginning portion of the season in the AHL. The 30-year-old Brown has two points (0G / 2A) in 12 games with the Bakersfield Condors (AHL) this season.

Skinner will start in Ottawa on Tuesday.

On the tail end of a back-to-back, the Oilers will turn to Skinner between the pipes on Tuesday against the Ottawa Senators. The 26-year-old Skinner has struggled this season, salvaging a 5-5-2 record despite posting an ugly 3.28 GAA and .877 SV%. He has allowed three or more goals in fix of his last six games (3-2-1), posting a .864 SV%.
