The Panthers come into Friday on the tail-end of a back-to-back and they’ve lost six of their last seven (1-3-3).

Smith stopped 37 of 38 shots in the Coyotes’ 4-1 win over the Red Wings on Tuesday. Smith continues to face an abundance of shots and is hanging in there pretty well. He is due for a poor performance here and there, but they’ve been few and far between so far. He could face close to 50 shots tonight against a Maple Leafs team that is in the top-5 in shots per game.

Pickard was pulled after he allowed four goals on 20 shots in Colorado’s 10-1 loss in Montreal on Saturday. With Semyon Varlamov out with a groin injury, Pickard will face the red-hot Flyers tonight. Philadelphia has won nine in a row while averaging 3.56 goals for and 2.11 goals against per game.

Smith allowed four goals on 22 shots before being yanked in the Coyotes’ loss in Pittsburgh last night. The Penguins are torching everyone right now, so Smith was likely pulled in order to keep him fresh for tonight’s game in Detroit. Smith has gone 1-2-2 with a 3.03 GAA and .914 SV% on the road this season.

Smith stopped 44 of 45 shots in the Coyotes’ win over the Predators on Saturday. Smith is facing a whopping 38 shots per 60 minutes in his 11 starts since returning from injury. Over that stretch he has gone 4-3-4 with a 2.44 GAA and .936 SV%. Smith is playing very well, but wins will be limited because of the Coyotes’ lack of offence.

Tonight he will take on the Predators on home-ice, where he is 3-2-2 with a 2.85 GAA and .925 SV% this season.

This dude faces so many shots it’s ridiculous, so while the SV% will likely be high, so will the GAA. In his first start against Calgary, Smith allowed two goals on 24 shots in a 2-1 OT loss.
