Montembeault will start Thursday in Carolina.

Montembeault stopped 27 of 30 shots (.900 SV%) and snapped a two-game losing streak as he defeated the New York Islanders in his previous start. The 26-year-old has been reliable all season, as shown by his 11-10-2 record, 3.17 GAA and .909 SV%. He will face the Carolina Hurricanes, who have won eight of their last nine games after a 3-2 win over Washington last game.

Owen Beck has been returned to the Peterborough Petes (OHL).

Beck played in one game as an emergency call-up for Montreal, collecting a -1 plus/minus through 14 shifts and 9:48 TOI but has been returned to the Peterborough Petes of the OHL. The 2022 2nd round pick (33rd overall) returns to Peterborough (OHL) where he has 19 goals and 45 points in 38 games played.

Beck was recalled from Peterborough (OHL) and is expected to make his NHL debut on Saturday.

The Canadiens have been ravaged by injuries lately and needed a forward, so Beck makes the jump from the OHL to the NHL. The 18-year-old was the No.33 overall pick in 2022 and has scored 19 goals with 25 assists (44 points) in 37 OHL games between Mississauga and Peterborough.

Montembeault allowed two goals on 38 shots (.947 SV%) for his third win in four games as he beat Toronto in a comeback overtime victory in his previous start. The Canadiens' backup net minder has been solid when called up this season, with his 10-8-2 record, 3.15 GAA and .911 SV%. He will take on the league leading Boston Bruins, who have won nine of their last ten games and are 1st in the NHL in goals per game (3.8).

He will face the Florida Panthers, who are coming off a 5-4 overtime loss to Toronto but are second in the NHL in shots per game (35.4).

Evans was forced to leave the Canadiens' previous game vs. the Islanders due to a lower-body injury after just 7:04 TOI and he has now been placed on the injured reserve, meaning he will miss 8-10 weeks. The 26-year-old depth piece has two goals, nine assists, 20 PIMs and a -8 plus/minus through 43 games prior to the injury.

Armia (upper-body) will be out until the NHL All-Star break.

Armia has three goals, four assists, 56 SOG and a -7 plus/minus through 32 games this season but will now be out until after the All-Star break as he deals with an injury for the second time this season. He has been placed on the injured reserve retroactive to January 15th for an upper-body injury.

Slafkovsky suffered a lower-body injury that does not require surgery. He will be out for three months.

Slafkovsky left the Canadiens' game Saturday vs. the New York Rangers after just 9:04 TOI with a lower-body injury and will be out for at least three months. It is another chapter in a very disappointing opening season for the 2022 1st overall pick, who had four goals, six assists, and 42 SOG through his first 39 games prior to his injury.

Montembeault will start Tuesday vs. the Jets.

Montembeault stopped 38 of 39 shots in the Canadiens' win over the Rangers on Sunday. It ws another strong performance from Montembeault, who has not stopped 150 of the last 159 shots (.943 SV%) that he's faced in his last four outings. Tonight he'll make his fifth consecutive start and faces a Jets team that has won eight of their last nine games.

Michael Matheson will return to the Canadiens' lineup Monday vs. Winnipeg (lower body).

Matheson hasn't played since Dec. 17th due to a lower-body injury but will draw back into the lineup Tuesday as they take on the Winnipeg Jets. The 28-year-old was enjoying a solid start to the season prior to being shortened by injuries, with one goal, five assists, and 24 SOG through 10 games played.
