He has a great chance to extend that streak to four as he gets set to take on the lowly Sabres in Buffalo. He makes for an excellent spot-start.

He comes into tonight at 13-5-2 with a 2.65 GAA and .900 SV% on the season. The Blues are red-hot, so Allen is a great start against the NHL’s 29th ranked offence.

Allen gave up a single goal on 20 shots after replacing Brian Elliott in the Blues win over the Hurricanes on Saturday. He has lost each of his last three starts while allowing a combined 12 goals, but a strong outing on Saturday and a great matchup tonight should help get him back on track. He made 13 saves in a 4-3 OT win in his first start against Edmonton.

The loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Allen, who is now 11-3-2 with a 2.49 GAA and .907 SV% in 16 starts this season. Tonight, he will face the Avs’ for the second time this season—he stopped 23 shots in a 3-2 OT win in Colorado 10 days ago.

Palat said that he had his “best day yet” on Thursday. He has missed the last four games, but could be back in tomorrow. He skated on the second line with Valtteri Filppula and Nikita Kucherov today, because Tyler Johnson missed practice with an illness.

Tonight he has a strong matchup vs. an Avalanche team who have lost five of seven and sit 21st in the league in scoring.

He has actually been overshadowed by Martin Brodeur since Marty signed, but Allen gets another crack agh the Isles tonight; this time at home where he is 4-1-1 with a 2.51 GAA and .893 SV% this season.

Allen allowed four goals on 33 shots in the Blues 4-1 loss to the Blackhawks on Wednesday. Martin Brodeur struggled in his Blues’ debut on Thursday night, so they will go back to Allen this afternoon vs. a red-hot Islanders team. Allen is 4-2-0 with a 2.14 GAA and .929 SV% on the road.

Tonight’s will be special for the 24-year-old, who will have future Hall of Famer Martin Brodeur as his backup. He draws a tough matchup, but catches a break with Antti Raanta getting the start for Chicago.
