The Avalanche have acquired Kurtis MacDermid from the Kraken for a 2023 fourth-round pick.

MacDermid had two goals, two assists, 46 hits and 35 blocked shots in 28 games with the Kings. MacDermid was selected by Seattle in the Expansion Draft but will go to Colorado for the 2021-22 season. Given the Avalanche's depth on defence, MacDermid will likely serve as a reserve.

The Jets have acquired Brenden Dillon from the Capitals for a 2022 second-round pick and a 2023 second-round pick.

Dillon, who is 30-years-old, has three years left on a contract that carries a $3.9M AAV cap-hit. Dillon is a huge (6-foot-4, 225 lbs.) defenseman who brings a rugged style to the Jets' blueline that they were missing in 2020-21. Dillon ranked eighth among defensemen in hits (143) but is also capable of chipping in offensively, averaging three goals and 19 assists (22 points) per 82 games over the last four seasons. He'll likely eat up the minutes left by Derek Forbort (17:57 TOI/gm).

The Hurricanes have acquired Jonathan Bernier and a third-round pick from the Red Wings for Alex Nedeljkovic.

Bernier enjoyed a solid 2020-21 campaign, going 9-11-1 with a 2.99 GAA and .914 SV%. Those numbers aren't eye-popping but they were the best of his three-year tenure in Detroit. He is pending UFA, so could hit the open market on July 28th but the Hurricanes will have a few days to try and sign him to a team-friendly deal.

The Rangers have acquired Nick DeSimone and '22 4th round pick from the Golden Knights for Brett Howden.

DeSimone was sent to the Golden Knights as a part of the Mattias Janmark trade last April. The 26-year-old has spent his entire pro career in the AHL, finishing last season with no goals and 11 assists in 22 games. Look for him to open the 2021-22 season in the AHL.

The Devils have signed Colton White to a one-year, two-way contract extension.

White was selected in the fourth-round (No. 97 overall) in 2015 but has appeared in just 11 NHL games since, including two in 2021. White spent most of the season with Binghamton (AHL), where he had one goal and six assists. Look for him to start the 2021-22 season in the AHL once again.
