Varlamov allowed one goal on 25 shots in Colorado’s win in Winnipeg on Thursday. The win snapped a six-game losing streak for Varlamov, who will face the Blues for the second time this afternoon. Varlamov allowed three goalso on 37 shots in a 3-2 OT loss in their first meeting (Nov.30).

Varlamov allowed four goals on just 17 shots in Colorado’s loss to the Maple Leafs on Tuesday. It was an ugly performance for Varlamov, who has now lost six in a row (0-3-3) while posting a 3.91 GAA and .882 SV%. Varlamov gave up four goals on 23 shots in a losing effort in his first start against the Jets.

Schneider will start Thursday in Chicago.

Schneider gave up four goals on 33 shots in the Devils loss to the Wild last Saturday. Schneider has lost both of his starts while allowing five goals on 61 shots (.918 SV%). Schneider is still looking for his first win of the season—having gone 0-6-2 with a 4.12 GAA and .868 SV% in 11 games this season.

Varlamov will start Tuesday vs. the Maple Leafs.

Varlamov stopped 33 of 35 shots in a losing effort Sunday in Boston. Varlamov is on a five-game personal losing streak, posting a 3.48 GAA and .894 SV% in the process. Tonight he will face the Maple Leafs for the second time this season—he allowed three goals on 20 shots in a 6-3 win in Toronto in the first meeting (Jan.14).

Rittich will start Tuesday in Tampa Bay.

Rittich allowed three goals on 25 shots in the Flames shootout loss in Vancouver on Saturday. Since the calendar flipped to 2019, Rittich is t-9th in wins (7), 29th in GAA (2.89) and t-31st in SV% (.904). Rittich stopped 32 of 36 shots in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Lightning on December 20th.

Rittich allowed three goals on 37 shots in the Flames win in Carolina on Sunday. Rittich is riding a three-game winning streak, stopping 89 of 96 shots (.927 SV%) in the process. The 26-year-old walked away with the ‘W’ in his first game vs. the Sharks, despite allowing five goals on 33 shots.

Varlamov allowed five goals on 26 shots in Colorado’s win over the Canucks on Saturday. Philipp Grubauer started on Tuesday, so the Avalanche will come back to Varlamov tonight in Washington. Varlamov’s last 10 starts have been rough—he is 2-6-2 with a 3.14 GAA and .877 SV% over that span.

Schneider will start Thursday vs. the Islanders.

Schneider will be making his first NHL appearance since December 14th and comes in having gone 0-5-1 with a 4.66 GAA and .852 SV% in nine appearances this season. During his time with the Binghamton Devils (AHL), Schneider wasn’t much better, posting a 3.24 GAA and .881 SV% across eight games. He has simply lost the form that once made him one of the best goalies in the league and can’t be trusted until he finds it (if ever).
