Regenda has been sent down to San Diego of the AHL Monday. The 22-year-old collected his first two career points (2A) in his third career game on October 17th vs. the New York Rangers. He has two assists through five games prior to the demotion.
With the announcement that Valeri Nichuskin will not play Friday, Martin Kaut will draw back into the Avalanche lineup.
Vanecek will start after winning a 20 save (.909 SV%) 6-2 performance over the Red Wings the Devils' last time out. After being acquired in the offseason, Vanecek has struggled since joining the Devils, posting a 1-1-0 record to go along with his .833 SV% and 3.43 GAA. He's had NHL stints for three straight seasons, compiling just two goals and one assist in 20 games. Ben Meyers was sent to the AHL to make room for Kaut.
Georgiev will likely start Monday as the Avalanche head to Minnesota for a battle of Central division rivals. Georgiev had a shakey first start in Colorado's opening night 5-2 win over Chicago, allowing two goals on 17 shots while ultimately securing the victory. He will be looking to add another victory to the win column as he battles Pavel Francouz for starts all season in the Avalanche crease.
Vanecek will finally get his chance to make his first start with the New Jersey Devils Saturday after backing up in their opener. Vanecek was traded to New Jersey in the offseason after posting 20 wins in 39 starts off the back of a .908 SV% and 2.67 GAA.
