Thornton has been out since January 20th with a rib fracture but was a full participant in Sunday's practice and told reporters he "can't wait to play tomorrow" after the session. Thornton, who had one goal and one assist in five games before getting hurt, was back on the top line with Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner.

Dellandrea has impressed early in the season but will be scratched on Tuesday for what the Stars are calling a "breather." Joel L'Esperance will replace him in the Stars' bottom-6.

Vanecek continues to stand tall in the face of a heavy workload, facing an average of 34.7 shots per game so far this season. With Ilya Samsonov still on the COVID-19 reserve list, Vanecek will make another start Monday vs. Boston. He's won three straight games while allowing eight goals on 107 shots (.925 SV%).

Georgiev allowed three goals on 24 shots in the Rangers loss in Buffalo on Tuesday. Igor Shesterkin has started three of the last four games, so they'll give Georgiev the nod in the first game of a two-game set vs. the Penguins. After opening the season with a 23-save shutout, Georgiev has lost his last two while allowing a combined seven goals on 44 shots (.841 SV%). Pittsburgh comes in at 4-3-1 while averaging 2.75 goals per game (19th) through their first eight games.

It was another solid showing from the young netminder, who is now 3-0-2 with a 2.70 GAA and .918 SV% on the season. With a shorthanded group in front of him, goal support may be difficult to come by but the Islanders have had their own offensive struggles, scoring just 1.83 goals per game (30th).
