Buchnevich was acquired from the Rangers last week and the RFA quickly signed a four-year extension with his new team. In St. Louis, Buchnevich will play with either Ryan O'Reilly or Brayden Schenn and has averaged 25 goals and 33 assists (57 points) per 82 games over the last three seasons.
Walker has put up strong AHL numbers over the years but hasn't been much of a factor at the NHL level. Over the last three years, he has scored two goals with two assists (four points) in 16 games with the Capitals and Blues. Look for him to remain in the AHL for most of 2021-22.
Buchnevich has taken his game to a new level over the last two seasons, averaging 24 goals and 39 assists (63 points) per 82 games in the two shortened seasons. Moving to St. Louis, Buchnevich becomes one of many unsigned RFA's who will be looking for a raise. Once signed, he'll likely replace Jaden Schwartz, who will be a UFA on July 28th.
Leddy is entering the final year of a seven-year contract that carries a $5.5M AAV cap-hit. The 30-year-old is still a serviceable top-4 defenseman that will help bridge the gap to some of the Red Wings younger prospects who may still be a year away. Detroit will also look to flip him at next year's trade deadline to try and recoup some of the draft capital lost in this trade.
The Wild signed Suter to a 13-year, $98M contract in 2012 and bought out the final four years on Tuesday. Suter will count against the Wild's cap until 2028-29, carrying a $2.372M cap-hit in 2021-22.
Saad has been out since April 24th, but skated on a line with Tyson Jost and Valeri Nichushkin in Colorado's most recent practice and should b good-to-go on Monday. Saad had 15 goals and nine assists (24 points) in 44 games this season.
Leivo has missed the last seven games on the COVID-19 protocol list but will play tonight vs. the Canucks. Leivo has played up and down the Flames lineup this season, scoring five goals with two assists (seven points) in 36 games.
