Binnington was up to back up Jake Allen on Thursday but with Carter Hutton (lower-body) being activated from IR, Binnington returns to Providence.
Binnington, 24, has gone 6-1-0 with a 6-1-0 with a 1.84 GAA and .933 SV% in eight starts with Providence this season. Binnington comes up to serve as Jake Allen’s backup on Thursday and will likely return to Providence after that.
Gunnarsson has been a healthy scratch for the last four games, but will replace Robert Bortuzzo in the lineup tonight vs. the Kings. Gunnarsson has just three goals and one assist (four points) in 20 games this season.
Sundqvist was a healthy scratch vs. the Ducks, but will draw back in to the lineup tonight vs. the Kings. Sundqvist will replace Sammy Blais and is expected to play with Patrik Burgled and Vladimir Sobotka. He has just three assists in 22 games this season.
Leivo drew into the Maple Leafs lineup last night, recording one goal on three shots in 10:02 TOI. Despite scoring his first goal of the season, Matt Martin will draw in for the winger.
Witkowski was sent off of the ice following a fight with Brett Kulak but came back off of the bench after some words were exchanged and Matthew Tkachuk “speared” him in the back of the leg and a brawl broke out. Witkowski has been in and out of the Red Wings lineup this season anyways, so this is not a big loss for the team and he carries zero fantasy appeal.
Faksa missed Monday’s game vs. the Jets with a lower-body injury he suffered last Saturday vs. the Sabres. He is expected to replace Jason Dickinson on the fourth line and comes in with three goals and four assists (seven points) in 14 games.
Kapanen appeared in three games with the Maple Leafs during his call-up but returns to the Marlies where he had three goals in six games so far this season.
