Schmid was a fifth-round pick (No.136 overall) in 2018 and has been terrific in his first professional season. The 21-year-old has gone 8-0-2 with a 1.60 GAA and .944 SV% in 10 starts with Utica. He will likely serve as Mackenzie Blackwood's backup on Friday.

Marner landed on IR this morning and head coach Sheldon Keefe told reporters that he is expected to miss at least three weeks. Wayne Simmonds will take Marner's spot on the top line on Tuesday because Jason Spezza will be suspended.
