Hertl missed the morning skate on Monday and is not expected to be in the lineup tonight. Bryan Lerg has been recalled and could be making his NHL debut with Hertl out.
Karlsson had one goal and one assist in three games with the Blue Jackets during his call-up.
Karlsson, 22, has not recorded a point in eight games with Springfield after being traded from Anaheim at the deadline. Prior to the deal he had 24 points (8G / 16A) in 37 games with Norfolk (AHL). Karlsson is expected to make his Blue Jackets debut on Tuesday.
Smith, 23, was set to become a restricted free agent in the offseason. After a breakout season in 2013-14, Smith has regressed a little bit, but has still managed to register 12 games and 23 assists (35 points) in 63 games.
Karlsson, 22, was a second round-pick (53red overall) in the 2011 NHL draft. He has registered 24 points (8G / 16A) in 37 games with Norfolk (AHL) this season—He has three points (2G / 1A) in 18 games with the Ducks. He will report to Springfield (AHL).
Karlsson played 9:01 with a minus-1 rating in last night’s loss to the Senators. He was sent down because it looks like Nate Thompson is ready to return to the lineup on Friday.
Nate Thompson missed the third period of Monday’s game vs. the Red Wings, so the Ducks recalled Karlsson, 22, who could be in the lineup on Wednesday vs. the Senators. Karlsson has registered two goals and one assist in 17 games with the Ducks and 21 points (7G / 14A) in 35 games with Norfolk.
McNabb has three assists and a plus-3 rating in his last three games, but will take a seat with Jamie McBain coming back into the lineup.
Hertl, 21, was sent down during the All Star break to get a couple of extra games in in Worcester. He collected two assists in two games, but now comes back to the Sharks where he has 17 points (8G / 9A) in 48 games this season.
Hertl had to leave the game about two minutes into the third period after Logan Couture inadvertently fired a puck into his own team’s bench. The 21-year-old immediately left the ice while holding a towel to his face, and received 16-to-18 stitches. He will wear a full cage against the Wild. Hertl has seven goals and eight assists for 15 points in 40 games, but just one goal in his last 13.
Stone missed Saturday’s game vs. the Penguins, but he is expected to be back in the lineup tonight vs. the Canucks. If Stone is ready to go go, he will replace Milan Michalek who is out with an upper-body injury.
Stone did not travel with the team to Pittsburgh, so he will be replaced by Zack Smith today vs. the Penguins. Stone is considered day-to-day.
Stone must have suffered an undisclosed injury in the Senators loss to the Islanders on Thursday. Puck-drop is at 1 PM ET so there will be no morning skate, so monitor his status prior warmups.
Karlsson has not played in the last three games due to illness, but had a strong showing in 16 games with the Ducks during his call-up. He had two goals, one assist, a plus-3 rating and 24shots.
Hertl now has 9 points in 20 games this season.
Hertl picked up one assist with a plus-1 rating and three shots in the Sharks’ 4-1 loss to the Panthers last night. He was moved up to the first line prior to yesterday’s game, but only played 13:38 which means he was likely bumped down midway through the contest. He is back on the third line this morning, so expect him to stay there to start Thursday’s game in Tampa Bay.
Matthew Nieto has not scored since opening night and has been held pointless in his last three games so Tomas Hertl will replace him on the top line tonight vs. the Panthers. After a sensational rookie season prior to his knee injury, Hertl’s seven points (3G / 4A) has too be disappointing for fantasy investors. But, he gets a chance tonight to make an impact and hopefully stay on that top line.
Theodore, 19, has three goals and two assists in five games with Norfolk this season. He has been recalled because there is some uncertainty surrounding blue liners Cam Fowler (lower-body) and Francois Beauchemin (flu) availability for Sunday’s game. The 26th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft could be in line to make his NHL debut tonight.
