Montoya posted a 24-save shutout vs. the Devils on October 13th. He will likely see his second start of the year tonight vs. a good Avalanche team. On a day with a lot of backups starting, there are better spot start options than Montoya.

Montoya is 3-0-0 with a 2.68 GAA and .896 SV% this season. However he is going to be in tough to keep his undefeated record. He faces a Penguins team who look unbeatable at this point. I would net suggest starting Montoya. If you're feeling lucky, then by all means... Start him.
This will be Montoya's first start since returning from injury. He is 2-0-0 with a 2.74 GAA and .889 SV% in two starts this season. He has a tough matchup vs. the Lightning who's 3.52 goals per game leads the NHL.
It has been a rollercoaster of a morning trying to figure out who the Jets starter was going to be, but finally Coach Noel confirmed that it is in fact Al Montoya. Montoya is coming off of a shutout performance against the Senators and if he has another good outing he can carve out some starting time for himself given Pavelec's struggles.
Pavelec was practicing at the starters end of the ice this morning but Montoya was the first goalie off of the ice which would indicate he is starting. Montoya will likely be the starter tonight but I think it would be wise to wait until warmups to see who the starter is going to be.
No word on how long Pavelec could be out for but Montoya is due for a challenge on the road in Ottawa if he ends up starting.
