Al Montoya News
Goaltender Al Montoya and forward David Ullstrom, both out since Dec. 21 with concussions, are scheduled to practice with the team Monday.

With the Isles starting Evgeni Nabokov for eight consecutive games, look for Montoya to get back between the pipes when healthy.

Al Montoya left the game with a possible head injury late in the second period after Evander Kane did one of those "Wait, I'm not responsible for avoiding the goalie, am I?" rushes toward the net.

With Montoya injured, Evgeni Nabokov would become the number one starter on the Island. Nabokov was set to start one of the next three games but may be unable to play in back-to-back games.

Al Montoya is ready to return from a hamstring injury that sidelined him last week.

Montoya is at least healthy enough to backup Rick DiPietro and could get some playing time without a three-headed monster between the pipes. His 2.44 GAA over six appearances is much lower than the average 3.01 GAA of his combined counterparts.

Capuano confirmed that Montoya is pretty close to returning. Said he will speak to head trainer Garrett Timms to get an update later today

Montoya should get plenty of playing time if his only competition is Rick DiPietro. His 2.44 GAA over six appearances is much lower than the average 3.01 GAA of his combined counterparts.

Montoya practicing is a welcome sign as he could get back into games shortly. With Evgeni Nabokov already out due to injury and Rick DiPietro unable to start consecutive games he should get first crack at the starting job.
