Barabanov has been out since March 26th due to a lower-body injury and will expectedly remain out for the remainder of the 2023-24 season after not travelling with San Jose on their road trip. The 29-year-old had an extremely down season after finishing 2022-23 with 47 points, with four goals, 13 points, 67 SOG, 12 PIMs and a -24 plus/minus through 46 injury-riddled games played.

Barabanov played only 9:15 time-on-ice in the Sharks' 6-3 loss to the Dallas Stars on Tuesday before exiting the contest with a lower-body injury. After a breakout 47-point campaign last season, Barabanov has been limited to only 13 points (4G / 9A) in 46 games this season.

With Friday's trade deadline approaching, the Sharks will hold Barabanov out of the lineup as they anticipate making a deal before the deadline. Barabanov has struggled offensively this season, scoring only 10 points (3G / 7A) in 38 games.
