Edler was handed a five-minute major and game misconduct for kneeing Hyman on Sunday night. Hyman did not return to the game and Edler will miss the next two games due to suspension. This is a huge blow for a Canucks team that is already very shorthanded on the blueline.
Both Edler and Travis Hamonic left Wednesday's game vs. Montreal and did not return. During his postgame press availability, head coach Travis Green did not have an update on either defenseman. If both aren't available for Thursday's game, look for Olli Juolevi and Jordie Benn to be in the lineup.
Edler has missed the last 10 games with an upper-body injury but will return to the lineup tonight vs. the Oilers. Edler has enjoyed a good year, scoring four goals with 11 assists (15 points) in 27 games.

That’s a 15-goal, 35-assist (50 points) per 82 game campaign from the 33-year-old, who hasn’t appeared in 82 games since 2012. With the Canucks emerging as a strong offensive team, Edler will carry some fantasy value into 2019-20 but injuries are always a huge concern for the big Swede.
Edler was fortunate not to suffer any facial fractures but is suffering from concussion symptoms. He will miss his fourth straight game on Monday and is expected to miss at least a couple more weeks with a concussion.
Edler took an awkward fall, face-first onto the ice in Philadelphia on Monday and will remain in a Philadelphia area hospital while the Canucks travel to Washington. It was a scary fall and will likely result in Edler missing a fair amount of time. Look for Alex Biega to replace Edler in the lineup on Tuesday.

Edler missing time due to injury comes as no surprise, as the veteran defenseman has missed at least 12 games in each of the last three seasons—missing a total of 56 games over that span.
Edler played just 3:10 TOI before leaving Wednesday’s game in Vegas. Edler was hit hard by Golden Knights winger Max Pacioretty and did not return to the ice. Michael Del Zotto will likely replace Edler if he can’t play Thursday in Arizona.
