Anders Nilsson News
The Senators have placed Anders Nilsson (concussion) on IR.

Nilsson was scheduled to start on Thursday but was scratched a few hours prior due to an "illness." Turns out he was dealing with a concussion and will miss at least one week. Luckily for the Senators, they don't have to make a roster move because Craig Anderson is set to return from a knee injury.

Nilsson will start Thursday vs. the Predators.

Nilsson gave up six goals on 31 shots in the Senators' loss in Florida on Monday. Even with Marcus Hogberg playing well in Tampa Bay on Tuesday, the Senators will come back to Nilsson tonight vs. the Predators. He has allowed at least three goals in three straight games and is 7-3-0 with a 2.43 GAA and .927 SV%. Nashville has won four of their last six while scoring 4.33 goals per game, including an eight-goal outing against the Islanders on Tuesday.

Nilsson allowed three goals on 41 shots in the Senators win over the Blue Jackets on Saturday. Nilsson has won two of his last three starts while stopping 102 of the 110 shots (.927 SV%) that he faced. Nilsson has stumbled on the road this season though, going 2-5-2 with a 3.73 GAA and .897 SV%, so he's a terribly risky option in Florida.

Nilsson made 38 saves on 40 shots in the Senators' 5-2 win over the Bruins on Monday. It was a terrific outing for Nilsson, who has made a habit of stringing good outings together this season. Nilsson gave up two goals on 15 shots after replacing Craig Anderson (knee) in Ottawa's loss in Philadelphia on Saturday. Nilsson has gone 0-4-0 while posting an ugly 4.77 GAA and .826 SV% in his last four appearances. He actually played well in his first start against the Bruins, stopping 19 of 21 shots in a 2-1 loss, but it remains a very difficult task for the 29-year-old and should be left on the bench on Monday.

It was a tough way to end November for Nilsson, who finished the month at 6-3-0 with a 2.69 GAA and .915 SV%. He's inconsistent and has the facing his former team narrative tonight but the Canucks are 12th in the NHL in goal-scoring (3.18 GF/gm) and have the fourth-best PP (26.4%) so it's a matchup worth avoiding.
