The Hurricanes have recalled Andrej Nestrasil from Charlotte (AHL).

Nestrasil has played the same amount of NHL as AHL games this year (18). He has five points (1G / 4A) with the Hurricanes and 10 points (4G / 6A) with the Checkers. He will draw into the lineup on Wednesday with Jeff Skinner (neck) out.

Nestrasil has been a healthy scratch for the last three games and went unclaimed on waivers, so he’ll go to Charlotte to grow his game. Nestrasil has one goal and four assists (five points) in 19 games this season.

Nestrasil suffered an injury to his left leg while blocking a shot in Friday’s game vs. the Kings. Nestrasil played just 5:18 before retiring to the dressing room. His status for Saturday’s game in San Jose is uncertain.

Nestrasil, 23, has been out since December 8th with an upeer-body injury. The young forward has one goal and two assists in eight games since being claimed off of waivers from the Red Wings.

Nestrasil has missed the last two games with an upper-body injury. His placement on IR is retroactive to November 8th, which means he is eligible to come off of IR whenever he is healthy. Consider him day-to-day.

Nestrasil, 23, was the Red Wings third-round pick in 2009. He had two assists in 13 games with Detroit this season. He was also a member of the Calder Cup Champion Grand Rapids Griffins in 2013.

Nestrasil will be back in the Red Wings lineup on Wednesday.

Nestrasil served as a healthy scratch in the Red Wings two losses on Sunday and Tuesday. He had recorded one assists and a minus-1 rating in 10 games this season. He will replace Tomas Jurco in the lineup tonight.

Nestrasil, 23, was selected by the Red Wings in the third round (75th overall) in 2009. He scored 16 goals and 20 assists (36 points) in 70 games with the Red Wings last season and had a great preseason. The 6-foot-2, 210 lbs. forward will start on a line with Darren Helm and Gustav Nyquist, but will need to make a strong first impression if he wants to stay with the team after Pavel Datsyuk returns from his shoulder injury.
